This was in my child’s newsletter this month 
“LEAVES
I have asked for all children to leave LEAVES on the ground. Many dogs have done their business in them, broken glass is a reality at the school and often remnants of weekend partygoers and the homeless population are found in the leaves. In the name of safety for all- children are asked to leave falling leaves on the ground, just like snow and rocks.
Parents please talk to your child about the dangers with the leaves in a public community place like a playground…much different than
your backyard.”
I’m sorry but no I will not be discussing “the dangers of leaves in the community.” with my child. I will however be discussing the joy of leaves, things that hide in leaves and ways to play in and with leaves.
Sigh….public school just never fails to disappoint.
